Tom Statler Wins Chompers Table Rock Open
Come backs are common in sports but leap frogging over eleven other competitors in one day is remarkable. Tom Statler manged to do just that at the Chompers Table Rock Open Central Pro Am Tournament this weekend. Anchored by a 6.70 toad Statler’s 14.75 day two total was enough to push him to the top top of the pro ranks. Statler caught the majority of his fish, including the big bass of the event, by Carolina rigging a brush hog as deep as 20′ deep in the James River arm of Table Rock Lake.
Second place honors went to Josh Busby with a solid two day total of 26.30 pounds followed by local angling legend Marty Conrad with a final weight of 26.22 pounds.
The Co Angler crown went to Chris Martin with a two day total of 16.17 pounds followed by Kurt Parker with 15.60 and third place winner Jacques Fleishmann with 14.33.
The fourth and final qualifying event marks the end of the regular season and qualification for the Central Pro am Championship on Lake of the Ozarks, September 28 & 29 out of Robins Resort. The top 30 anglers from both the Pro and Co-Angler divisions will compete for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes at the championship.
The Pro Division Angler of the Year is Joe Brantley. Brantley had a margin of victory of almost 5 points over second place finisher Scott Pauley winning the coveted crown and a Humminbird 798 ci SI combo graph valued at over $1000 courtesy of Marine Repair Center in Springfield, MO.
Co-Angler Angler of the Year Jacques Fleishmann wins a Humminbird 570 DI valued at over $300 also courtesy of Marine Repair Center in Springfield.
